CULTURAL MENTORING

Cultural mentoring refers to cultural supervision provided to non-First Nations people or to teams/groups and it is designed to respond to the specific needs of the employee and/or the organisation. Cultural mentoring is a professional development activity that assists organisations to address operational challenges and is a method for encouraging continuous quality improvement in individuals and teams.

We apply a narrative technique to our cultural mentoring which is underpinned by the cultural capability framework of knowing, doing and being to help unpack and explore cross-cultural challenges and misunderstandings by respectfully challenging bias, racism and discrimination if it presents; whereby, facilitating discussions that heighten cultural safety and reduce the risk of a First Nations person’s rights not being respected, promoted and upheld.
